My second observation was in Felicia Ciapetta's Grammar class. The Grammar class was certainly different from the previous Listening class I had sat in on. What I originally thought would be a quieter class, turned out to be more active than I'd expected. Ms. Ciapetta started with having the students read from the text book, and afterwards had them immediatly launch into a series of activities to keep them on their toes, and ensure that the class wasn't boring. The class was constantly 'moving' both mentally and physically. After a quick round of question and answers, she had them get up and take pictures of things around the Hecht House. When they returned, they were required to make sentences based on what they took pictures of. It was a very clever way of keeping the students interested in what they were doing. The students themselves seemed to like Ms. Ciapetta very much and joked with her constantly. It was an enlightening lesson as I got to see first hand how something as boring as grammar can be made interesting and engaging.
