I met my conversation partner, Soultan, at Momo's Pizza and had a pleasant dinner with him. He is from Kuwait and speaks Arabic. He's been in the U.S. for seven months, and this is the first time he's been to the United States. He wants to be a petroleum engineer and is going to study English in Florida and then travel to another one of the States and study actual engineering there. He communicated well, though he spoke usually when prompted and was content to let me speak the rest of the time. He seemed to understand me well, and I felt like there was little miscommunication between us. However, because of his general silence I couldn't be entirely sure that he was always understanding everything that I said. One question he asked me without prompting was how big my family was. I told him I only had two brothers, and he told me that he had four sisters and five brothers. A very large family! He also told me that he'd made many friends in the U.S. but, funnily enough, none of them were actually American. Hopefully that will change!
