Tutoring Session #9 of 16
Topic: Writing
Materials: previous essays, conclusion worksheet
Today PJ and I looked at the FSA past essay prompts. We looked at FSA 2018 writing prompt for 7th graders. I had PJ look at the rubric and read aloud the ranges in scores. We talked about what makes a "4" vs a "3" vs a "2" essay and where he thinks his writing is. To make sure he knew the rubric, we read a couple sample essays included on the FSA website. We read at least 4 essays with varying scores and strengths so he could see the importance of good grammar, thesis statements, and transitions. Afterwards, we read over his essay and gave it a score and highlighted each component.
