Class Observations 5/8/2018

I observed Group 3A in their speaking class with Wilson. He began class by listing the objectives on the board, including goals for speaking that day. The introduction was going over idioms in a powerpoint such as:
  • Off the top of my head- without careful thought
The students guessed what the idioms meant based on context clues, and then were corrected if needed.Then, to practice American cultural situations for international students, the student acted out skits based on a prompt. The instructor had them act out the skits, and used a bell to indicate pronunciation or grammar errors. After he rang the bell to signal incorrect grammar, he wrote the beautiful mistakes on the board and had the students fix the errors.
