Class: Speaking
Level: 2A
Instructor: Felicia Ciappetta
During this lesson, students were beginning to work on an interview project. They each had to come up with ten questions that they would ask their assigned partner. They would then create a presentation about their partner to present to the class. Ms. Ciappetta requested to review each of the students' questions before they started the interviews. She would make notes on their paper but also verbally explain what the errors were. Often she would ask them why they thought it was wrong before explaining the issue to them, trying to get them to think about it on their own. The most common issue I noticed was the usage of question words "who, what, where, when, why, and how". Ms. Ciappetta would then explain to each of them when it is appropriate to use which word and wrote the explanation down on the papers of each student who was struggling with that, so they would have it for reference. After the interviews were conducted the class went to the computer lab. The biggest questions seemed to be how to actually use the program rather than anything related to English. Ms. Ciappetta had them working with their partners but made herself available to answer any questions that may have come up.
