Mane CO#2

 Class: Listening
 Group: 2A
Instructor: Angel Rios

My second class observation was a listening class with Angel Rios. I got to introduce myself to the class in the beginning and watch the students play a game and then take notes on a video. The game was very interesting  and kept the students thoroughly engaged. The game seemed so simple yet so effective. The Professor would shout a vocab word and whoever felt confident enough to go to the board and spell it out would do it. Afterwards, other students had the opportunity to challenge the spelling if they felt it was incorrect. I was surprised at how much the students enjoyed the game. I think part of the success of the game is also the professor’s personality. He made it as playful as possible, so the students felt engaged.

After the game, the professor had the students listen to a video. The video was about how the business world in America has changed because of women’s involvement. The students were supposed to listen to the video and fill in the blanks of the worksheet provided by the Professor. This was to prepare them for a test.

I found the class to be enjoyable and it gave me ideas on how to keep a balance between an energetic class and a quiet class.
