Leslie TS #11
Leslie TS #11 CIES Building
6/18/18 2-3 p.m.
Hanqing and I reviewed his accomplishments of the last CIES
course period. He gave examples of how he sees that he has improved in areas of
listening, vocabulary, and speaking. However, he plans to continue in two CIES classes
this session—speaking and listening. We reviewed past vocabulary—definitions,
usage, and pronunciation—and taught and learned new vocabulary that emerged
from our listening and speaking. We discussed words such as touch as one of the five senses. He thought
touch was only a verb. We researched
on the laptop how touch is a verb, a
noun, and can be an adjective and/or compound noun as in touchpad (dictionary
lists it as one word noun) or touchable. Verb phrases—touch up; idiom—to touch base
with. Also, continued discussing topics related to current events in his life
and future plans at FSU. He asked the difference between a thesis and dissertation. He researched this, and I answered his questions related
to requirements for different graduate degrees.
