Leslie TS #8
Leslie TS #8 CIES Building 6/11/18 3-4 p.m.
This week we talked about typical English learning problems for Arabic speakers, and reviewed websites tutee could use on his own. We reviewed the difference
between p and b and v and f, and he practiced pronunciation. Then we went over pronunciation
of words in which there are two or more consonants next to each other. Tutee
asked me about some vocabulary words he had put in his Speaking presentation
about what his hometown is famous for. This was a good opportunity to correct
and strengthen word pronunciations and spelling, and to review the rule that when
two vowels are adjacent, the second vowel is silent and the first vowel sound
is long. Tutee spoke at length about his hometown and the famous Tarif rose
that is processed into precious rose oil and rose water that is used in the
finest perfumes. This is the last session
because tutee is going out of town this week until June 25. We summarized our
sessions and thanked each other and said goodbye.
