Tutoring Session #2
From
our previous tutoring session, Abdulrahman’s homework was to memorize the definitions
of some legal terms and have example sentences and scenarios ready of where
these terms can be used. He was able to complete his homework except for
struggling with a few terms like arraignment. When I was explaining to
Abdulrahman what an arraignment was, he said that they don’t have a special
hearing like that in Saudi Arabia. These days in America, many arraignments are
not heard either because the defendant can just file a document with the clerk stating
that they plea either guilty or not guilty. I explained what an arraignment was
to Abdulrahman again by giving a scenario and an example sentence. I also let
him know that arraignments are not always heard in America and as a business
lawyer he does not have to worry about arraignments. Other than that,
Abdulrahman had a good grasp of the material because of his background
knowledge in law when he studied business law in Saudi Arabia. We continued the
lesson with more legal terminology in the same way that we had done in tutoring
session #1.
